A Purification cleanse

So, have any of you ever put your body through a purification cleanse?

My good friend ethan and I are doing it together and we sarted today. As a chiropractor we give nutritional support for patients and this cleanse is one way of jump starting a good change. We figure how are we supposed to tell patients what it is like if we have never done it before, so here we are.

The main points of the cleanse.

- Get rid of refined sugar in the diet.
- No form of wheat
- Eat a lot of vegetables and natural sugars(fruits)
- Drink lots of water to help flush the
- Use whole food supplements to aid the cleanse
- Become thankful for your tastebuds!!! :)

I just started today and I can already tell that my body is used to SUGAR! Its not that I feel like i have no energy, I just really like the taste of it and used to it. The shakes and supplements that we are using all have good properties but leave an after taste kinda like hay... :)

So, now that I have complained enough about it, here are the benefits of the cleanse..
- Increased Energy
- Improved health
- Weight loss!
- Removal of Food addictions!
- Clearer thinking
- Better Digestion
- Less Bloating
- Clearer skin
- Shinier Hair! - thats exciting ;-)
- Disappearance or lessening of past conditions!

This last one is especially important to me because I have heard, and met, many patients who have had this happen to them. Now, don't get me wrong, we can not say we cure anything with this cleanse! but is it helps out and things disappear... :)

Also, I only have three more class days left in my schooling career! This is the most exciting thing ever! After this semester, we have nothing but clinic and reports!

I have more but you have to wait...

Oh yeah, heres a picture of me and my favorite child... :)

CARS

Its about TIME!!!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,339629,00.html

ps - yes, look at the time. I'm a nighthawk, what can i say...

Boards Part II

Well,

They are done. Thats all I can say. Except I want to say more.... :)

So this was actually more than part II boards. It consisted of Part II and Part III along with the additional physical therapy section all in one weekend. It was a three day test and grueling. The first day was the longest starting at 8 am and going till 7pm with an hour break for lunch and 20 minutes between each test. There were 5 tests that day. This consisted of general and physical diagnosis, the PT section, and radiology. Although this was the longest day, I felt like I probably passed each section. (well except for gen diagnosis because we had to know tons of blood and urine lab stuff and what kind of chiropractor knows that stuff off hand! refer out baby! ;-)

The next two days both only had two tests in the morning from 8 till noon. Out of those sections, I felt like only one of them was bad enough that I'm gonna be sweatin bullets for the scores to come in. These ones were applied sciences, chiro technique and Part III on sunday.

In case any of you never have to sit in a huge test like this, let me just tell you you're lucky. We had to start EACH exam with a long instruction list 15 min because every time new people were in there retaking exams. That was painful and I was ready to bounce before the test was even handed out! So then we have to take the test. There were 110 questions per test and the allotted time was usually 90 minutes for each one. BUT, they let groups out if you were finished at the 60 and 75 minute mark. So if you were close to finishing and knew that it was almost time for the group to be let out, it was a mad dash to finish. (this is because if you get out early you can spend more time cramming for the next one) I was usually done by the first time group except on one test where I had to visualize and think about each question. (chiro technique)

So there you go. In the end I think we (my study group) all did well and hopefully passed each section. You're allowed to retake up to two sections failed. If you failed more than that, you gotta do the whole shebang over again. ugh. hope i failed only two if any!

SO.... in order to release all the tension built up we decided to go out the next night and do some late night lobster fishing! the season ended today so the pickings were especially slim but we wanted to at least get out there. and this is what we caught instead of lobster!!!

Pretty cool eh? We were proud parents and I think Phil's grandma is doing some research on how to even cook that thing... We also caught some octopuses! It was a fun night even though we got to bed around 3 and had class at 8. :)

National Boards

So I have national boards next week and I have decided that I need to study more...

This is part II and III of four parts and they are supposed to be the easiest of them. They are mainly physical exam skills and general diagnosis with a little PT rehab stuff mixed in. Oh yeah, theres also a big section on radiology but thats not too bad. The real problem with this test is that the material is stuff I know pretty well already... that may seem counter intuitive but its hard to study stuff you already kinda know! Oh yeah, and the test costs 1100 dollars so I don't want to take it again. :)

Cool Little Find...

So as I was wasting time on the internet and someone pointed out to me this cool website. Its put on by NASA and its the astronomy picture of the day. Take a look at this one! (it has a little explanation for each picture)

Bball

So I admit it, I'm a little out of shape...

I have been running with rachel a lot as of late because I'm expected to run a marathon at the end of next month so my aerobic exercise isn't hurting that bad. But I haven't played any organized sports in a few months and I figured that I could just jump back into anything and start playing on our intramural bball team again... wrong. There is a stark difference between running for endurance and sprinting for a rebound.

I'm not joking when I say this - I was on the floor for 2.5 minutes and I felt like I was going to die! I couldn't make any shots and my feet were dragging. Its a good thing we had some subs. I have been pretty athletic most of my life so this was an eye opener at being a 9-5'er and not getting enough exercise.

Since High School have you guys felt like your exercise(or physical activity in general) has dimished as much as mine or what? Too many things in life...

A Day Off..

Well,

Today I have the day off, sorta. I have to put in atleast 24 hours a week in clinic this semester and so instead of doing 4 six hour days I'm doing 3 eight hour days. So today I have the day off but I have to make up for it later.

Have any of you new parents noticed that having a baby around the house makes days go a lot faster? I swear I just woke up and after playing with rebecca, feeding her, and puttin her down for a nap I feel like taking one myself!

We don't have much planned today other than running a little then taking rebecca in for shots! rachel can't do it by herself so she has me hold rebecca. what a wuss... :)
